Whiteman was given a grant from Carmel Hill to start the Accelerated Reader program at the school.  Carmel Hill provided computers, the program (to include Star Early Literacy, English In A Flash, Fluent Reader, and Accelerated Reader), professional development, and help leveling all of our library and classroom books.

Accelerated Reader is used to help measure students' progress in reading comprehension.  Students read books at their reading level and take quizzes on the computer to check for comprehension.  Students may take quizzes during normal school hours.  Students are reassessed periodically throughout the year to determine their individual reading level.  Students may also sign on the AR quiz site from the link on this site under  Kid Space.
