Volunteer Opportunities

Whiteman always welcomes volunteers who want to help in any way.

We appreciate and value your interest and the skills/talents you may share with the school and our students.

Please call the Whiteman office at 303-355-7333 to inquire.

(Please note:  DPS requires a background check on all volunteers working directly with students.)

 Some volunteer opportunities we have:

PALS -  Partners and learners = success

This is a mentor program where a student identified as needing a mentor is matched with a willing adult.  The pals meet weekly, usually at lunchtime, to touch base with their student.

Classroom Helpers

There are always opportunities for volunteers in the classrooms to help the teachers.  These volunteers may work with individual students or small groups, do copying, work on bulletin boards, and other projects that the teacher has.

Teen Interns

We have always had teen interns that come to work anywhere from one day on special projects or for week or two week internships in assigned classrooms.  We have enjoyed having students from both the girls and boys division of Regis High School, Machbeuf High School, and Colorado Christian High School.

Special Skills or Interest

Any special interest or skill you might have could be a way to help our students.  Examples might be:

Sewing

Dress up costumes for ECE and Kindergarten.

Skills books of snaps, lacing, zippers, etc. for our ELC and DLC classrooms.

Quiet blankets for ELC or DLC with pockets for beanbags.  (The weight helps with the “wiggles”.)

Building

Bean bag toss games for large muscle work for ELC and DLC.

    Bookshelves or bins.

Storytelling or Reading

We have had great storytellers come to classrooms to share stories about cowboys and people who just come to read.

 Art

We have had people come to share their art process with the students.  One was a children’s book illustrator.
